RELOAD at the Tropentag Conference in Vienna
In the fourth year of its implementation, the dynamic of the RELOAD research network becomes more and more visible: 19 contributions were presented by young RELOAD scientists at the Tropentag conference, which took place in Vienna, Austria, September 18-21, 2016.
The four oral and 15 poster presentations addressed a wide range of topics: Sources of microbial and mycotoxin contaminations in dairy production, improving marketing options for less common high-value food products, assessing sources of loss and improving cooperation among actors in food value chains, exploring technological options for improved quality of products and addressing nutritional needs of vulnerable population groups.
In addition, Prof Brigitte Kaufmann, Dr Christian Hülsebusch and RELOAD Postdoc Dr Margareta Lelea, all from the German Institute for Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture (DITSL) in Witzenhausen, chaired thematic sessions on “Knowledge, participation, stakeholders and social networks”, “Mobile dryland pastoralism”, and “Adoption, innovation and gender perspectives”, respectively.
